Synopsis: “Ben Stiller directs and stars in this classic story of a daydreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a fantasy world filled with heroism, romance and adventure. When his job, along with that of a co-worker (Kristen Wiig), is threatened, Walter takes action in the real world, embarking on a journey more extraordinary than anything he could have imagined.” -excerpt from DVD cover
My thoughts: I loved this film! The ultimate feel-good movie! There’s action, adventure, comedy, and romance. His fantasies when he would drift off were hilarious. As a daydreamer, myself, I loved those “zoning out” moments. Sean Penn is always brilliant, so his role as the eccentric off-the-grid photographer was priceless. My favorite parts felt so engaging that I even felt a little like I was there in the moment with Walter. The cinematography was beautiful and the soundtrack was so good, I downloaded that, too. As a whole, the story was yes, funny and adventurous, but also meaningful and heartwarming. Honestly, this is currently my favorite movie. I loved watching it and just felt great afterwards.
